Nelson Orlando Moreno Salazar is an Assistant Professor of Physics Department at Sergipe Federal University since 2004. He holds a D.Sc. degree in Physics Science from Institute of Physics "Gleb Wataghin", UNICAMP (2000 Campinas, Brazil), M.Sc. from Department of Physics, UFPE (1994 Recife, Brazil) and a B.Sc. degree from Department of Physics, Universidad del Valle (1991 Cali, Colombia). He was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Los Alamos National Laboratory, LANL (2000-2003 Los Alamos, USA).

Moreno's research interests are synthesis and investigation of strongly correlated electron systems and magnetism. Current research includes Heavy Fermions, Intermediate Valence, non-Fermi liquids, coexistence of heavy fermions and long range order. Ferromagnetic, Antiferromagnetic, Colossal Magnetoresitance Systems and Geometrical frustrated systems. Synthesis and structural studies are carried out at Sergipe Federal University, transport, magnetic, and thermodynamic studies in collaboration with partners at State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Moreno is a member of the American Physical Society and Brazilian Physical Society, and acting Referee for the Physical Review B and Physical Review Letters.
